See You on the Road!

The FCPL Bookmobile is on the road! Visitors can come aboard and check out books and DVDs, access wi-fi, and use a computer. See the Outreach Events(opens in a new tab) calendar to find a stop in a neighborhood near you.

The launch of the Bookmobile is a result of the library’s strategic plan and is intended to help the library reach its goal of serving the entire Forsyth County community. The Bookmobile lowers barriers to using public libraries by bringing books, technology, and resources to areas that are further away from the library’s physical locations.

FCPL invested approximately $400,000 in the Bookmobile vehicle, books and materials, and onboard computer equipment. Funding for the Bookmobile was provided by impact fees.

    • Can I really check out books?

      Yes! Patrons can check out and return items at the circulation desk on the Bookmobile.

    • How long can I keep a book I checked out from the Bookmobile?

      Normal checkout periods are two weeks, but they may be adjusted based on the frequency of the scheduled stop on a particular route.

    • Are there overdue fines?

      Fines will accrue on Bookmobile patron accounts, but may be waived under certain circumstances. Fines that are accrued on materials checked out on the Bookmobile due to schedule delays or cancellations will be waived.

    • How are routes chosen?

      The Bookmobile prioritizes areas of Forsyth County that are underserved by existing library branches. The library works with a variety of community organizations to determine areas where mobile library services are most needed, such as areas with limited transportation options, language barriers, and a driving distance of more than 7 miles to the nearest branch. Locations must also allow for the Bookmobile to safely maneuver and park.

    • Does the Bookmobile offer programs, such as storytimes?

      Yes, Outreach staff on the Bookmobile will present programs for patrons of all ages, though such programs will be on a smaller scale, and outside (weather permitting).

Our calendar fills up quickly. To best accommodate you, please provide as much advance notice as possible for your event.

Requirements:

  • School, event, or community group must be in or working in Forsyth County, GA.
  • Community events or festivals must have free admission.
  • We book on a first come, first served basis, but will do our best to accommodate as many groups or events as we can on the same day.
  • We request at least two weeks notice of your event.
